The graph shows the number of tourist arrivals in Egypt between the years 2000 and 2011 and then gives a forecast of the tourist arrivals in the years 2012 and 2013. Overall, tourism seemed to have flourished throughout this period except for slight declines from 2000-2001 and 2007-2009.The peak of tourism was in fact in 2010 at 14 million but was counteracted by a sharp plummet in 2011.
While the number of tourists dropped sharply in 2011 from 14 million in 2010 to a little below 10 million, this is however, not the lowest number on the graph. 2002 witnessed merely 4 million tourists and the second to highest point in the 13-year graph was in 2008 with 12 million tourists visiting Egypt.
Despite the fluctuations, tourism in Egypt was predicted to increase steeply in 2012 and 2013, with its highest point in 2012 at 12 million tourists, which is in clear contrast with the 2000-the first year on the graph- with tourist numbers at approximately 5 million.
